2024 Golf National Championship - Day 1 Recap
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Defending USCAA champion Lyon College placed four golfers in the top nine as they compiled a ten-over-par 298 to lead the 2024 USCAA Men’s Golf National Championship after day one on Monday at the Penn State Blue Course.
The Fighting Scots have three golfers in the top five individually as John Blake Turner is second at even par 72, Brooks Vanglider is tied for third at two-over-par 74 and Ryan Kriz is at three-over-par 75. Michael Winne is tied for ninth at five-over-par 77.
The Apprentice School is sitting second at 24-over-par 312 with a pair of golfers in the top seven. Jeremy Carr is the individual leader with a one-under-par 71. He recorded three birdies on the day including consecutive on holes 12 and 13. Dillon Mickles is tied for seventh at four-over-par 76.
Penn State Mont Alto is in third place four strokes behind Apprentice with a 316. Jacob Bassham leads them with a two-over-par 74 to tie for third, while Ryan Small shot a six-over-par 78 to tie for 13th.
Johnson & Wales Charlotte and Maine-Augusta are tied for fifth at 320. JD Dinto leads Johnson & Wales with a three-over-75, while Theo Hustler has a five-over-77 to lead Maine-Augusta.
In the USCAA Women’s National Invitational, Emilee Miller and Macy Lorigan of Carlow and Meadow Ciccarella of Johnson & Wales Charlotte all share the lead at nine-over-par 81. Leah Wright of Kent State Tuscarawas (84) and Charlotte Blanchard of Southern Maine CC (86) round out the top five.
