Lyon College Claims Back-to-Back National Golf Titles
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Lyon College shot a 17-over-par 305 on Tuesday to complete a wire-to-wire finish and repeat as the 2024 USCAA Men’s Golf National Champions at the Penn State Blue Course. The Scots finished the two-day event at 603 (+27) to win by 15 strokes over Johnson & Wales Charlotte (618) and The Apprentice School (625).
JD Dintino of Johnson & Wales Charlotte blistered the course on Tuesday coming in at three-under par 69 to take the medalist honor at even par 144. He won by six strokes over John Blake Turner of Lyon (78-150) and eight over a trio of golfers at 152. Dintino had a run of three birdies over a five-hole stretch that helped propel him to the medalist honor.
Turner was the top finisher for Lyon, followed by Brooks Vanglider who shot 74-78-152 to tie for third. Manav Perfecto was in a tie for sixth with scores of 81-72-153 and Michael Winne ended in a tie for ninth after a pair of 77’s for a two-day 154 total.
Kyle Duggan and Garrett Hartley were the next highest finishers for Johnson & Wales Charlotte as they each shot 80-75-155 to tie for 11th. Jake Weerts rounded out their scorers tied for 35th after round of 85-79-166 to tie for 35th.
Jeremy Carr was the low man for The Apprentice School with rounds of 71-81-152 to finish tied for third. Dillon Mickles joined Carr as USCAA First Team All-Americans with a 76-77-153 performance to tie for sixth. Kai Crockett shot 81-76-157 to end in 18th, while Parker Wells was tied for 22nd after rounds of 85-75-160.
The women’s individual champion was Emillee Miller of Carlow with rounds of 81-81-162 to finish four strokes ahead of teammate Maci Lorigan who carded 81-85 for a 166.
