The Apprentice School Captures Fourth Baseball National Championship
DUBOIS, Pa. (May 15, 2026) … Behind a nine strikeout performance from Brayden Hayes and two RBIs apiece from Lucca Pascarella and Jett Winslow, the Apprentice School came out of the elimination bracket and defeated Penn State Mont Alto 6-2 on Friday afternoon to win the 2026 USCAA Baseball Championship.
Apprentice School (41-6) scored in each of the first four innings starting with one in the first as Tournament MVP Nate Yeary singled and went to second on a Jaeden Anderson groundout. Pascarella followed with an RBI single through the left side scoring Yeary for the early 1-0 lead.
Another single run for the Builders came in the second as with one out Baker Green beat out an infield single and stole second. Pascarella hit another RBI single, this through the right side, to score Green and a 2-0 lead.
Penn State Mont Alto (34-17) got its first run in the top of the third as with one out James Sibert singled and went to third on a Garrett Worth double. Following a pop out, Carter Fogal singled to plate Sibert for a 2-1 margin.
The Builders pushed another run across in the third as with one out, Jackson Thomas singled and went to second on a Jett Winslow knock. Seth Harrison then knocked one to short for a forceout, but a throwing error plated Thomas for a 3-1 Apprentice lead.
The champions broke it open in the bottom of the fourth with a three-spot as with two outs McCallister singled in Anderson who had reached with a single. Winslow followed two batters later with a single to right-center to allow McCallister and Landon Turner to score for a 6-1 lead.
Sibert closed the scoring with a leadoff home run in the top of the fifth. Grant Stratton came in relief of Hayes with a seventh inning of three straight strikeouts.
The title was the fourth for the Builders having also won it in 2007, 2015 and 2022.
Turner was 3-for-4 to lead a 12-hit attack for Apprentice School, while Sibert, Garrett Worth and Carter Fogal all had two hits for Penn State Mont Alto.
