SMCC Claims 2025 Golf National Championship
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2025) … Southern Maine Community College stormed back on Tuesday firing a 10-over-par 298 to take its first-ever USCAA Golf Championship at the Penn State Blue Course. The Seawolves finished with a 34-over-par 610 to card the first title not only in school history, but Yankee Small College Conference history.
Will Farschon finished second to lead the Seawolves as he recorded an even-par 72 over the 6,329-yard course. Drew Goulet and Matt Quigley were the next highest finishers for SMCC coming in with final round 75’s. Chris Keene rounded out their counting scores for Tuesday with a 76.
The Apprentice School shot a final round 304 to jump from fifth to second place with a two-day total of 619. Rounding out the top five teams were: day one leader Maine-Augusta (623), Kent State-Tuscarawas (624) and Penn State York (632).
Dillon Yinger of Penn State York came away with the individual championship honor after a one-under round of 71 on Tuesday to finish at one-under 143 for the tournament. The Yankee Small College Conference came away with a second and third-place individually as Farschon was second and Aiden Boule of NHTI was third as he shot a one-over-par 73 on Tuesday to finish at three-over-par 147.
The low round on Tuesday was recorded by Charlie Melvin of Penn State Wilkes-Barre who vaulted up into a tie for seventh following a final round of three-under-par 69. His round of 69 matches the second lowest round in tournament history as he had two bogeys, three birdies and carded an eagle on hole 12.
In the women’s championship, Grace Thompson of Southern Maine Community College carded a six-over-par 78 on Tuesday to win that medalist honor with a two-day total of 155. Maci Lorgan of Carlow was second at 160, followed by Charlotte Blanchard of SMCC (161) and Alexis McCormick also of SMCC (164).
