CMCC Captures 1st Men's DII Soccer National Championship
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Ivan Domingues, Mitch Cameron and Sam Boynton each scored a pair of first half goals and Matty Waters added two assists in a six goal first half that propelled Central Maine Community College to a 7-0 win over Central Penn in the USCAA Men’s Division II National Championship match on Sunday afternoon.
The seven goals scored in the final are the most in a championship game in USCAA history.
CMCC got the ball rolling early scoring twice in a 49 second span. Ivan Domingues took a feed from Matty Waters at the 2:07 mark for the 1-0 advantage. Cameron scored his first one as he redirected a Mikel Soto scoring attempt at 2:56 to lead 2-0.
He scored his second goal at the 20:50 mark as he lobbed a shot over the Central Penn goalkeeper to push the lead to 3-0. Domingues answered with his second tally as he also blasted one from 20 yards out into the back of the net for a 4-0 lead at 26:44.
Bonyton closed out the first half barrage with his brace as he scored off a Waters header attempt at 37:23 for a 5-0 lead. The first half explosion came to a close at 39:56 when Boynton buried his second goal for a 6-0 advantage.
Justin Violette finished off the scoring in the contest at 86:27 as he put in a rebound shot for the seventh goal of the game for the Mustangs.
Central Maine Community College (17-1-2) held a 27-13 advantage in shots on goal as Cody Cleaveland made five saves in the opening half for the Mustangs.
