The Mighty Oaks Men's Cross Country National Champions Again
UNIONTOWN, Pa. – For the second time in the last 13 years, SUNY ESF completed a four-peat of USCAA Men’s Cross Country National Championships with a win on Sunday at the meet hosted by Penn State Fayette.
The Mighty Oaks won four titles in a row from 2011-14 and now have completed their second four-peat with 29 points. Johnson & Wales –Charlotte was second with 66 points and Word of Life was third with 103. Rounding out the top five teams were Paul Smith’s College (115 pts) and Lyon (126).
NHTI freshman Eli Lemire was the individual winner covering the 8k course in 27:23. Logan Shaffer was second from Johnson & Wales-Charlotte (27:49), with SUNY ESF teammates Collin Flannery (28:15) and Korben Anderson (28:37) in third and fourth respectively. Liam Robinson of Johnson & Wales-Charlotte rounded out the top five in 28:53.
Jack Craig of Penn State DuBois (29:04) and Aidan Watts of SUNY ESF (29:05) completed the top seven that earned USCAA First Team All-American honors.
Earning second team All-American honors were Williamson’s Bryan Hernandez (29:12/8th), Johnson & Wales Charlotte’s Dillon Neely (29:26/9th), Paul Smith’s Eliot Soderholm (29:33/10th), SUNY ESF’s Tyler Anderson (29:42/11th) and Hayden Bregg (29:58.1/12th), Christendom’s Alexander Girata (29:58.2/13th) and SUNY ESF’s Dan Mack (30/05/14th).
