North American University Claims 2025 Women's Division I Championship
BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 14, 2025) … In a game of runs, second-seeded North American University had the last and most profound run to close out the USCAA Women’s Division I National Championship on Friday evening.
Victoria Morris hit a pair of free throws with four seconds left for the final margin as the Stallions charged in the fourth quarter on a 29-10 run to defeat top-seeded Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo Bobcats 69-65 for the 2025 USCAA National Championship.
Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo opened the game scoring the first 16 points as Chanice Willis hit a pair of free throws at the 3:03 mark to lead 16-0. The Stallions scratched on the board courtesy of a Ja’naa Johnson jumper with 2:51 left to trail 16-2.
The Bobcats would hold North American to a Kayla Dickey free throw the rest of the quarter as Willis hit another pair of free throws with 32 seconds left as the Bobcats held a 23-3 lead after one.
North American made its noise to start the fourth quarter as they trailed 55-40 at the start. The Stallions opened scoring the first 11 points as Maurdaisha Powell hit a pair of free throws to trim the deficit to 55-51 with 7:39 left. Zyaire Hartfield drilled a three-pointer for Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo to push the advantage to 58-51 at the 7:01 mark.
A three-ball from Kayla Dickey pulled the Stallions to down 58-57 with 6:39 on the clock. The lead for the Bobcats bounced back and forth from three points to one over the next couple of minutes before a Keasia Robinson layup brought North American again to down one at 62-61 with 3:49 left.
Kayla Dickey hit a free throw 32 seconds later to tie the game for the first time at 62-all and Elisa Peralta gave North American its first lead of the contest on a free throw with 2:13 left for a 63-62 advantage.
Dickey pushed the lead to 65-62 on a layup with 71 seconds left, but the Bobcats got a pair of free throws from Madison Carley to have one last chance down 65-64 with 45 seconds left.
A steal and two free throws from Dickey took North American back up 67-64 with 15 seconds remaining. Imani Ward hit one of two from the line for the Bobcats, but that was all as Morris’ free throws iced the championship.
Tournament MVP Keasia Robinson had 14 points and 10 boards to lead four in double figures for North American. Dickey added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Jewel Brandley also came off the bench with 12 points and four rebounds with Victoria Moore also adding 11 points.
Willis had 15 points to lead Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo, while Madison Carey chipped in with 13 points and Chelsea Johnson added 12 points.
